Impurities except both white and black ones | The impurities except both white and black ones shall not be allowed. The area with these impurities shall be treat as unusual portion in length. |
Needle-shaped lumps on the surface | The lumps having 0.2mm in height shall be allowed. |
Scratches on the surface | The scratches having 0.5mm in depth, 10mm in length shall be allowed. |
Note:
When all the unusual appearance out of range in table 2, they shall be defined as the unusual part.
If concentrated impurities(specks, lumps, scratches) were found in preform, they shall be treated the same way as the concentrated bubbles.
Usable weight will be calculated by following formula(The density of quartz glass was 2.2g/cm3 ):
WCharged Portion =π/4 * 0D2avg * Lcha * 2.2/100 (g)
Lcha: charged length in Preform, Lcha=Total Effective Length –70mm- Total length contents all the defects.
Notes: there are 70mm effective part length was no-charged in the total preform. This no-charged part could be drawn into fiber.
The fiber drawn from the preform is excepted to meet the following characteristics in Table 3 by proper drawing condition.

1. Preform supplier warrants that the delivered preform meet this specification(Table 1&2). If the preform does not appear to meet a specification ad evaluated based on this specification and preform supplier agrees such non-conforming condition, preform supplier will replace or compensate.
2. Assuming optimum and stable drawing conditions and measurement equipment conditions, the drawn fiber is expected to achieve the performances as stated in table 3.
When 85% of the drawn fibre achieve the expected performance, settlement of the preform shall made according the relevant terms of the main contract .
When 85% of the drawn fiber does not achieve the expected performance and the main rejection is caused by preform quality, the supplier will compensate the fiber lose by preform.
3. The calculation definition of qualified fiber proportion is shown as follows:
Qualified Fiber proportion = Lqualified fiber length(km) / Lexpected drawing fiber length(km) * 100%
